We are almost done with our series countdown and for the second to the last, I will be talking about the fourth season of Arrow. Arrow has been my favorite TV series and I absolutely love talking about it here on my blog. If it weren't for this series, we would not have The Flash, Supergirl, The Legends of Tomorrow, and other DC TV shows going nuts around media.
This week has been really action-packed with DC. We had the major crossover events between The Flash and Arrow. And we had a brand new teaser and full trailer for Batman V Superman! What a good time to be alive.
I have to say, this crossover was so much better than last year but most of my expectations weren't met, to be honest. A lot of people have been saying that the crossover event here would introduce the Legends of Tomorrow, but all we've got was an introduction to the villain, Vandal Savage--who was super awesome, by the way (I love the step-up for villains this season--and the brand new heroes, Hawkman and Hawkgirl. And the crossover episodes were focused on how to defeat Vandal Savage, who's role was to kill both Hawkman and Hawkgirl in order for his immortality to continue. That's just it. I was kinda hoping to see White Canary or even Captain Cold enter the scenes to take down Savage, but that didn't happen. Apart from that slight disappointment, I thought this week's episodes were great. The action scenes were epic, the tension between the characters of Arrow and The Flash were so amusing to watch. Also, the emerging moment of Hawkgirl was the most highlighted moment for me. It sent chills down through my spine and the teamwork of the Green Arrow and the Flash just gives me the feels! Sorry, I just love seeing heroes work together.
Then there's the brand new trailer of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. In this trailer, we get to hear Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne have an actual conversation...that is, until Jesse Eisenberg cuts in. I'm not gonna lie, but he sounds kinda funny in this trailer than he did in the last one. Also I am questioning their choice of casting for Alfred because no matter how much ear surgery I will get, I will still hear Scar from the Lion King. The last thing I need to hear is telling Bruce that he needs to be prepared.
Anyway, let us re-live this epic trailer for a few minutes, shall we?
Aside from that, I thought the trailer was semi-cool. Meaning, I love it but at the same time I have some concerns. Of course, I was amazed by the effects in this. I get the feeling anyone gets whenever they view porn: full satisfaction. But also, I thought the trailer showed too much. Like everyone is complaining that the trailer gave everything away. Since this is Fangirl Moment, allow me to sound DC-Biased for this; I want to think that there is more to the plot than just Batman and Superman fighting. I think they decided to show them working together awkwardly behind Wonder Woman--that part made me squeal omg--because a fight between major DC heroes can come out as something predictable. On the other hand, I think they decided to show that last bit because lots of bloggers and social media people overanalyzed the first trailer. So what will the movie truly show? Is it something we have to worry about? Is there going to be more DC heroes appearing in this movie? Is there going to be romance blossoming between Clark and Bruce? What? Can this movie come out tomorrow?

Since the ultimate crossover event is
fast approaching, I think it would be very fitting for me to finally talk about
what I think of the upcoming CW spin-off series, “The Legends of Tomorrow”.
If you are loyal viewers to The Flash
and Arrow—or simply The CW Network, for that matter—you may have noticed that
the shows this week didn’t show any new episodes. And no, it’s not because
they’re going on an early break. Rather, it has something to do with the major crossover
event, where the two shows will merge together. That’s right! Instead of two
separate plotlines, we get one solid story where our beloved heroes shall work
together to face their common enemies. But wait, there’s more! Team Arrow and
Team Flash will not be the only heroes working together, but this is where the
Legends of Tomorrow shall finally have their debut before January. We are two
months away from the highly anticipated spin-off series of DC, so let us
back-track to how it all started.
The announcements early this year of
the said spin-off series have created a fair amount of buzz across social
media, giving us brand new theories on how the current seasons of The Flash and
Arrow will turn out to be. First off, we received news that Caity Lotz was
officially going to return to CW for another DC TV series, and this left the
immediate impression that we will definitely be seeing Sara revived from the
Lazarus Pit. Then this initial news grew when we learn that even Atom (Brandon
Routh), Firestorm (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh), Heatwave (Dominic Ducell),
and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) are included in the casting. Finally, CW
dropped a major bomb when rumors of a casting for Hawkgirl was spread around.
Not too soon, CW officially announced that the spin-off series they will be
working on will be called, “The Legends of Tomorrow”, and it was quickly
followed by a teaser. And recently, a brand new trailer is out, also announcing
on the big Flash and Arrow crossover event.
The Legends of Tomorrow has a very
simple plot. Barry and Oliver have decided to contact all the badass people
they know so they can work together alongside Rip Hunter, a time traveler, to
defeat Vandal Savage. Yes, I mentioned that Rip Hunter is a time traveler. As
you can see from the trailer, the characters are going across time and space
just to save the world. To make things more interesting, this show will be
somewhat independent from Arrow and the Flash. Although they will have
appearances, they will not comprise much of the entire series. So I guess it is
safe to say that they are a secondary class version of the Justice League. To
be honest, I was really excited when I learned of this news, even if the whole
concept of heroes, anti-heroes, and villains working together is not a very
fresh idea. I guess it was because of Sara, who happens to be my favorite
character in the Arrow fandom. Also, I am quite attracted to the idea of
characters from different fandoms (Flash and Arrow, in this case) joining
forces. The series will also be very short, meaning there will be no fillers in
between, which sounds very promising to me. The trailers and teasers for this were all epic. Everything seems grave and serious, but at the same time amusing because Rip Hunter has an interesting personality and I can say the same for most of people involved in this. I mean come on, just look at the combination of this group. How can you expect things to go smoothly?
I am looking forward to a lot of
things in this series. First, I want to know what kind of struggles each of the
characters will have whilst fulfilling their mission. Recently, it has been
made clear that Hawkman will be a part of the show and the trailer showed him
having an intense love-hate relationship with Kendra, who happens to be
Hawkgirl in The Flash. Also, Dr. Stein seemed also very wary in the trailer
because his wedding ring suddenly disappeared into thin air! Since they are
dealing with time travel, it is expected that whatever they did in the previous
timelines affected the present. We also get to see Ray Palmer getting a lot of
breakthrough moments in the trailer, one where he gets punched and has an
encounter with a woman. For me, it is possible that Ray will encounter his
deceased lover, Anna, while they time travel. As for Captain Cold and Heatwave,
I am curious as to how they’re going to fit into the mix because they don’t
just do something unless they get something beneficial in return. In other
words, I am curious to know what their motivations are in this series. Aside
from the fact that they are questionable people to trust, I want to know what
challenges they are gonna get, especially Heatwave. He is clearly a deranged
person obsessed with fire, and I hope this spin-off series will unfold his
character even more. Finally, we have Sara Lance as the White Canary. In the
trailer and teasers, we already see her in her brand new outfit, so it is
presumed that she takes the White Canary mantle during Arrow. But just like all
other people who have been revived with the Lazarus pit, Sara has a bloodlust
problem and this was evident in the previous episodes of Arrow. Obviously, Sara
will have to carry this during the Legends series. But I have to say, the way
she fought was so awesome (I probably sound very biased right now for only
praising her, so a thousand apologies for that). I want to see how others will
react to her because I think she has the darkest origin story in the group
(unless Hawkgirl proves otherwise). Actually, I would like to see how everyone
will react to each other. I can immediately tell that the teamwork won’t be
that effective in the beginning. I actually think that they’re going to fail on
what they are about to do. Call me pessimistic about it, but I don’t see the
group getting along as much. Plus, there are members in the group who are
pretty much to the whole saving-the-world stuff, so there is a big percent
accumulation on the inexperience sphere. I’m not saying it’s bad for the story,
though. It would be refreshing to see these characters completely fail at
something and to see them try picking up the pieces together.
My only concern for this show,
however, is the storyline. Time travel is an overused concept and it already
plays a big part on The Flash, but that is not the biggest issue here. I am
just afraid that the story it’s going to have will not keep me on the edge of
my seat or worse, won’t get me hooked at all. Dragging plotlines will always be
a sin, but it would be a major drag if the storyline about defeating Vandal
Savage won’t grab my attention. Like sure, Vandal Savage is a big deal in the
DCverse and you’re going to defeat him using Time Travel. But the question and
concern lies on the how. Like, how are you guys going to do that? The plan and
struggles they’re going to face must have this ability to keep the audience
hooked, otherwise they can kiss ratings goodbye. The show has to have an
effective storyline because it deals with characters who appear very secondary
in the two main CW series. Meaning, showing it won’t matter at all if it only
contains a downhill story and characters who only appeared as sidekicks with
only a three episode arc per season in major DC TV shows. Luckily, some of the
Legends are crowd favorites or at least are considered memorable in the main
shows, but I don’t think it’s enough.Having a bad story will somehow affect their actions and this could turn
them into sucky characters. Trust me, it can happen. So I expect a really good
story with insane plot twists and suspense, otherwise this series might not
fly.

I will not be doing the typical breaking down, but I will express the things I am (and not) looking forward to, this season.
First off, this would be my first time saying that I am excited for Ollicity this season! CW cleverly placed cute moments between the two at the very beginning of the trailer. Although I am questioning how they are able to afford a decent house in a decent neighborhood (which is the American Dream), but I am looking forward to what kind of physics--I mean, chemistry they are going to have together.
Let's not forget Thea Queen, who's finally going to take the helm of Speedy! We get to see more of her in this trailer, compared to how much we've seen Roy Harper in the last three seasons. And yes, perhaps it has something to do with Thea being the major character. In my opinion, Thea has had the most complex yet the most interesting character development in this series by far. The difference between the old and new Thea is drastic. Also, I never forgotten what everyone in Arrow said about Lazarus pit. Nobody comes out the same. Shortly after Thea was revived, she returned to her usual state, only in a groggy form. I was kind of expecting for something twisted to happen for Thea for that season, but I slightly miscalculated that part. Now, I am excited to know what kind of struggle she is going to have for this season.
I have to admit, but Ra Al Ghul was kind of a drag last season. But when I saw Damien Darhk make an appearance, I kinda got my hopes up. If Ra Al Ghul never left his little nest till the end of Season 3, Damien is quite the opposite. His character is so out there, and there are many contrasts you can make with his character and with Ra Al Ghul's. For one thing, he's not wearing dramatic robes to emphasize how serious of a character he is. Rather, he looks like your average, charismatic, smart businessman. Also, he's not wearing dramatic robes for a bit of flare. So I have a good feeling about this character. Or at least, I am going to like him more than Ra Al Ghul.
Another thing I am looking forward to is the drama occurring in Nanda Parbat. First, we see the tension between Nyssa and Malcolm Merlyn, who is now the new Ra Al Ghul. I am so glad that Nyssa will be returning for season 4 because that means I get to see her finally reaching her breaking point as a character. In other words, I just want her to stand up for herself and fight for the title that was always meant to be hers to begin with! I mean come on, when we first met her, she kept rubbing it in to everybody that she is the heir to the demon. I think it is time for Nyssa to shine and become the ultimate badass.
With that aside, I think things between her and Malcolm will get even more messy when Sara Lance also gets revived from the Lazarus Pit. Thanks to the teasers of Legends of Tomorrow, the next DC TV masterpiece, we already know for sure that Sara will never be the same. But whatever, I am excited to see her return! She's my favorite character in the series, and I do not care if she becomes evil. She's just so awesome. Also, it would be interesting to see Caity Lotz take on an antagonistic role, since I am pretty much used to seeing her as an extra in couple of dance movies and random TV series. But I am still confused which Lazarus Pit she will appear in. The trailer looked like she was revived in Nanda Parbat, but Legends of Tomorrow showed a completely different version of it. So yeah, hopefully that will clear up.
We also get a new set of heroes this season. And so far, we got to see Mr. Terrific and the almighty Constantine! It's already a given who Constantine is, since he's the exact same one we all know from the recent DC TV series that got canceled. Well, I haven't seen the series yet, but hopefully this strategy will somehow make Arrow the Lazarus Pit for the Constantine Series (hehe). Yeah, basically I'm assuming they think that another DC crossover might help create more buzz for Constantine, and that a couple of demands for a reboot or revival shall follow. It's a good idea and I actually hope it works. Arrow is kinda the reason why The Flash is now on the top of its game, so it won't hurt to try again.
For those who haven't the slightest idea who Mr. Terrific is, he's the new partner of Felicity Smoak. And he's also an old DC classic, and he's known to be quite the martial arts expert. Based on his history, there were two personas who took the title of Mr. Terrific, but season 4 shall be following the story of Curtis Holt (originally Michael Holt, in the comics). The mystery of who currently owns Palmer Tech, has still not yet been unraveled.
There are also things I am very unsure about. Let's start off with the obvious; Laurel Lance. I get it, I've been defending her in this blog for quite some time, but I'm getting worried. In the trailer, we see her taking initiative to go to Oliver and Felicity. So my guess is that she slowly becomes the second-in-command in Team Arrow. However, I still think it is too early for Laurel to jump into becoming a solid badass character. Up till now, I still have a hard time seeing her as the Black Canary. So I'm really hoping her character development will go smoothly. It will not be rushed nor be slowed.
For the first time, I'm dreading the next phase of Oliver's past. He took a ship to Coastal City from Hong Kong (which is near my country omg). So yeah, it is safe to say his next destination is the home of Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern or another major DC character in the Justice League. Honestly, I kinda bought the idea that Oliver was able to survive in a remote island for five years because, for one simple reason. It's not an ordinary island. As seen in the past seasons, it has been set as the facility for random evil stuff. That alone gave Oliver enough exposure to what kind of shit has been happening. So if you ask me, I'm more on the "so-so" scale with him moving from one place to another for five years. I'm concerned that this subplot of him surviving will slowly deteriorate and it will become a chore to watch, even if his past will somehow have something to do with his future problems in season 4.
I'm scared for all characters, basically. By the end of season 3, a lot of people already know who Oliver Queen is and Team Arrow gets bigger and bigger. And we get to see what kind of impact it gives to the characters. My concern is how the writers will handle such effects on the characters, because most of them have already reached their breaking points (Felicity, Laurel, and Thea, to name a few), and character development from there can be the most difficult part to mold. If its mishandled, the character's essence can slowly saturate and ultimately become overrated or boring. My fear grew when I saw Diggle in his new costume. I don't know what they have in mind for Diggle, but hopefully it won't be over the top. Because right now, he's seen as this guy who intended to carry on the hero work Oliver left, and that kinda doesn't make sense for me. The last time we all saw Diggle, he was slightly pissed at Oliver for not letting him on the plan he had all along. That alone was reasonable, because he has a family and he also cares about the other members in Team Arrow. Diggle getting on that elevator gave me the impression that he would lay low and not handle vigilante work for a while, because he kinda had enough. Then this trailer came and I got slightly confused.
Anyway, that is all I have to say for the trailer. Hopefully season 4 will pick up the pace and be much better than the third. Till the next post~
Hey guys! I'm currently on finals week--which explains my two week disappearance--and that means I am almost done with my sem and in spite of the current marketing plan deadlines that I have, I still have enough time to write a good long post just for you.
The past two weeks, my fandoms went booming with fantastic news and current events. Supergirl Pilot episode leak, a sneak peak on the Legends of Tomorrow, and of course... Arrow and the Flash had their season finales. As much as I want to compensate for the long hiatus, I'd like to focus on the finales of Arrow and the Flash first, since I think it is time for me to let everything out.
Thanks to the finale, it has become a sure fact that The Flash has officially become the best Comic-based TV show in like, forever. And I can see why. In spite of the minor cliches--such as making Barry Allen a goofy, awkward, Peter Parker-like character and the friendzone issues-- the writers somehow found a way to make the show, predictably unpredictable. Not only that, every episode had the best dose of emotional scenes, and the best part was not every emotional scene is not even romantic. The action scenes are even great; the effects are surprisingly really good and the fights are fairly consistent and are not all over the place (well technically, they still are, since Barry was just running everywhere, figuring out how to defeat each metahuman).
In the season finale, we see fairly good character dynamics. Fairly, because not everyone drastically changed for the sake of character development. However, we do notice that there are changes. In the very beginning, we all know how deep the bond Barry has with his father and Joe. In the last episode, we see that Mr. Allen is still Mr. Allen, whose only concern is to see his only son live a life. However, Joe gives us another round of him being the loving father that he has always been for the past season. At first, he urged Barry to accept Thawne's proposal, but in the long run he reveals that he actually doesn't want him to alter the timeline. As for the others... well, Cisco remained Cisco and Caitlin is now more fluid compared to the first time we saw her. Eddie is no longer the hot shot detective we expected him to be and Iris....oh boy, Iris. I want to say she is important but for some reason she just feels like an odd piece of the puzzle. I get that she is trying to be relevant in the story, but she still remains underwhelming. All she was to me in the series was just a love interest that needed protection. Apart from that, she didn't do much for this season.
Finally, we have Barry. What I appreciated most about Barry is that he has one thing that most awkward characters do not have; he's very sure of himself. Actually, he's too sure of himself, and he's not ashamed of his intelligence unlike most characters who are almost similar to him. As soon as he got his powers, he already figured out a goal and stuck to it until something or someone wavers his confidence. Grant Gustin, for me, did a great job at being the enthusiastic Barry. Not saying this because I'm biased. I have seen him in Glee, he is a good actor. Harrison Wells, though....wow. He is well-written for a villain. I love how his agenda is so simple, but he had to do major and devious things just so he can get what he wants. And the story was constructed in a way that understanding his back story would be so complicated. To think most of us were overthinking about who the Reverse Flash really is, when the answer was pretty much basic. Actually, it wasn't because I did not expect Eobard Thawne to kill the real Wells and take over his body like that. But wow, that was seriously cool.
As for the epic finale...it feels different. It did not really feel epic, because it was very emotional, just as the writers promised. The epicenter of this entire episode was the weight of Barry's decision, because his choice alone will affect everything. Not an ultimate fighting move, not the accelerator or any huge destructive weapon. Only the decision of Barry Allen will change things, then everything else follows. But wow, this episode was so emotional. I didn't really feel any awe, but everything in this episode was raw and heartfelt. Nora's scene with Barry was just beautiful and it was my favorite part of the episode. Eddie's sacrifice was something I did not really see coming but it was plain sad.
After the emotions, I felt excitement when Barry was going through the speed force. It revealed so many spoilers since most of the glimpses the Flash was seeing was the future. The image of The Legends of Tomorrow were there, KILLER FROST was teased, and not to mention Hawkgirl. Her appearance made my heart flutter. I wanted to enter the screen and give her a big warm hug for finally showing up in the TV universe after such a long time.
Overall, the grand finale delivered its promise, which I like most. It is a definitely emotional and it reveals a lot of teasers, making the viewers beg for more. Now the writers revealed that the plot in the first season was actually an alternate timeline. Meaning to say that the original timeline will be the setting for the second season. Perhaps it explains why Barry Allen's character will change from the awkward goofball to the cocky and confident speedster. I'm more interested on how they're still going to insert a new villain, now that we know Eddie killed himself just so Eobard would no longer exist. I guess this is where Flash will stop being a light-hearted TV show and it will now deal with much more complex stuff, such as the Speedforce and time continuum. And the ultimate ending of it all, felt like watching the first season of Arrow all over again. Just when things are becoming action-packed, they decided to cut it with a cliffhanger. Of course. Well played, guys.
Okay, where do I even begin...is it wrong for me to say I did not like the finale?
I mean, it was about to have a great buildup, but it ended...just like that. And in the end, I was like...Seriously?
The character dynamics were a mixture of bad and good. First of all, the writers went way overboard with Felicity's character. To the Ollicity fans, before you react...allow me to have my moment and explain. Just so you know, I am not bothered by the fact that she had a filler dedicated to herself. But her unending love for Oliver in the second half ruined almost everything for me. I understand that her feelings mostly clouded her mind, but she is just everywhere. It's like the show wants me to focus more on Oliver and Felicity because that is Arrow's so-called current unique selling point. The first half was just following its typical Arrow formula until Ra's Al Ghul shows up and boom. Ollicity takes the stage and pretty much drops the development of Black Canary, Roy Harper, and the bromance between John and Oliver has been completely minimized. It's like, "okay, I think John and Oliver are established bros now. I think we had enough Black Canary origins. Oh, and Colton's contract is going to be finished soon. So lets drop that and focus on Oliver's budding relationship with Felicity."
I love Felicity, I really do. Unfortunately, it annoyed me that she had to completely rub her love for Oliver every time she shows up. They even made Tatsu talk about her love for Oliver. Basically, Ollicity became the rock for this whole Ra's Al Ghul conflict for me. It made the show and its finale lack wholesomeness. What's worse, the only massive action I got to see was Nyssa and Laurel. That's it??? I didn't see enough development between the two of them. Nyssa was starting to become a very interesting character, but I didn't get much from her aside from the fact that she lacks and freedom and gender justice. Also, the fight between Ra's and Oliver was still a question of identity. Like how many times do we have to go through this. Oliver did more stunts in Flash crossovers, seriously.
Oliver's identity crisis could have been really good if he wasn't such a wuss about it. I had a hard time appreciating his character when he was slowly becoming disconnected from his group and started acting on his own. His inner conflict made almost made him flat for being the same old tortured Oliver Queen he was in the first season. And it really frustrated me. So I guess something good came out of this Ollicity ending because we will (hopefully) get to see a major attitude adjustment from Oliver. I mean, he's gonna spend most of the break being with Felicity. He's bound to get joke pointers from her, eventually...
Also, I have a question...what is CW and the term, "rebound"? Ray Palmer. Rebound. Linda. Rebound. Eddie. Rebound. And Felicity is the Rebound of the Rebound of the Rebound of the Rebound of the....ugh. This has been a season of rebounds. Perhaps my reason why I got so disappointed because Arrow had great finales, especially the second season. What made them so good were the teasers they pull. This season did not have much of those, either. In short, I was expecting that the third season's ending would be as good as the other endings we had for Arrow. But all we get is Oliver and Felicity riding away into the sunset, trying to give the Arrow a happy ending for a change.
I really do hope season 4 will redeem itself and keep the romance to the minimum. And to the Ollicity fans...we get it...you won.
One of the weirdest things I've ever did while I was going through puberty, was to base my standards for a potential life partner on my fandoms. Mostly anime shows. Back then, I thought it would be really great to just wait and see if I can actually have my very own carbon copy of Gaara of the Sand from Naruto. But you know, life happened and I completely forgot what kind of attributes I look for in a man.
Many of us do this all the time. This fictional character or person is so perfect, you just need someone like this in your life. Let's be real here; as a girl with random cliched thoughts, it would be amazing to wake up every morning to a Ryan Gosling-looking guy who can cook you breakfast every morning and rant about ducks while you read about The Tale of Two Cities. That's basically the effect our fandoms can have on most of us. Fandoms make us go beyond our imagination. We want their reality to become our reality. But let's be more specific and talk about love here.
Every fandom has their own definition of love and romance. And as members of each fandom, we have our own way of interpreting them. So here are my very own lovely interpretations on some of the most famous and cliched romantic fandoms ever! I won't be surprised if you disagree with me, though.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus- "You know a guy is dam serious about you when he gives up the gift of immortality--or at least, a major part of himself, just to be with you."
Twilight Saga- "You need a super perfect, protective guy and you have to be naive and surprisingly attractive in order to have the best mysterious romance of your life."
If you haven't really based your ideal girl or guy on the shows and books you love, then wow. I actually admire you. Many would want a girl who can play video games, because of Sword Art Online. Girls dream to meet the man of their dreams in a gloomy courtyard of some academy that they thought they would dread. I'm not saying that's it is abnormal to think that way, because it happens a lot. It somehow irritates me when a character is perceived as too hot or too perfect. It makes me feel conflicted, actually. I love how they're described, but I hate how it tries to ingrain into my mind that I need to marry someone who is almost like this character. In other words, fandoms like that encourages other girls like me that they should pick this mysterious, complicated god-like man with a high disposable income and the ability to come up with romantic gimmicks over a very simple guy who may not have much to offer but only has the sweet intention of getting to know you because to him you're pretty special. If every girl in the world would always chose this god, then yeah...nice guys will end up finishing last, unfortunately.
Whether we like it or not, the realities of our fandoms is so much different from the reality we are currently in. Because in the end, finding someone who has the hair of Jace Herondale, the kind nature of Peeta Mellark, has the rock-hard abs of any vampire, and the flawless talent of Daniel Grigori, is almost impossible. If you have someone who is as majestic as that, then congratulations. But if you're that frustrated person who thinks they can't have a love life, I say don't fret. I know, who am I--a random person on the internet--to tell you this? Trust me, I used to be that girl who would make those lists about what she wants in a man. So, hang in there. Your man (or girl) will come. And if that person does not have the gorgeous features that you were expecting, then I guess it won't matter once he or she comes along. Which is why, I challenge everyone lurking on the internet to do one task...Don't come up with standards.
Do not raise them, nor lower them. Just come clean and see what kind of partner you will attract. Because every great story every told always has an element of surprise. Yes, even love stories. Bella never expected to have a man like Edward Cullen. Percy Jackson thought he would never amount to anything until he received the best underwater kiss of his life from the girl he's cared about since they were kids. And Felicity Smoak probably just wanted a boyfriend, not two chiseled vigilante businessmen. These characters only did their thing, and love came to them just naturally. They didn't do any sort of voodoo, nor did they bother to wait. They just continued being awesome. And that's something you can also do. Don't spend your precious free time thinking of what your future husband or wife should be like. Be yourself and let the story of your life surprise you.
Things have been heating up since the last episode. Ray and Felicity are slowly becoming a thing, Diggle asks Oliver to be his best man, Thea struggles with her first kill, and Ra Al Ghul offering the Arrow the role of a lifetime. Putting that aside, Laurel gets to share her moments as herself and the Black Canary. I think now is the time for us to evaluate what she has done so far. Why? For one thing, Black Canary is a very important character in DC. She is not just the love interest of Green Arrow, but also the person who knows how to keep things together. She's a fabulous mentor and is known in DC for her impeccable fighting skills. So the question is, did Laurel Lance do her justice?
Let me remind everyone that this show is about Green Arrow, not the Black Canary. Yes, she is very important in his life, but it is a total no-no for her to take up a lot of screen time. Also, the first three episodes of the second half are her origin stories. In other words, she is just starting out. What's really impressive about her is that Katie Cassidy was good at turning Laurel into a very sloppy vigilante. I mean, that's how it's supposed to be when you're going to start something. I think we all remember how Oliver started out after the oh-so many flashbacks we've seen in this series, and do not make me start with Roy and Thea. So for now, I appreciate her current fighting level. It's slightly realistic (minus the part that she was willingly able to smash into a window) and how it's supposed to be for the time being.
Her identity crisis was also something that most definitely caught my attention because it was not just a question of who she really is, but there was a tinge of sibling rivalry; and this rivalry is something that most of the viewers can relate to. It has always been a question of who could be a better Canary: Laurel or Sara. Back in season two, we all despised Laurel simply because we did not like her attitude back then, which made most of us lean more on to Sara (I know I did). Now these "Black Canary" episodes put that question into play. Interesting right??? However, the question still has not been answered. We still do not know if Laurel truly deserves or is supposed to be the Black Canary or not. Basically, Laurel still does not have a full motive as to why she took her sister's costume in the first place. Sara's death may have been the drive, but in the end we realize that's not exactly it. Heck we don't even know Laurel even wants to be a hero or not. Sara definitely did not.
So hopefully, I want to see Laurel as a hero who truly wants to aid Starling City because that's not what Sara really wanted to do. I believe that being a selfless heroine will be the one that will set Laurel apart from her. Because the series is trying to tell us that they are not one and the same, and that Laurel is not just going to be the next Sara Lance (which kinda explains why her dad bitterly calls her the Black Canary).
Will we see a big development on Black Canary any time soon? Probably, because Sara will no longer be apart of Laurel's equation soon. We only got to see her truly become Black Canary in the "Canaries" episode, but it was a small rough start (thank you Detective Quentin for giving us feels). Will Black Canary be a killer? Maybe. However, Black Canary was never known for her killing sprees. Why did I ask that question? In case you have not noticed, killing has been a real issue in the series. It established the idea that killing does change a person, and it can change Laurel if it happens to her. However, I am honestly tired of seeing that scenario over and over. I want Black Canary's develop to be bumpy and complex just like Arrow's, Thea's, or Arsenal's, but I was hoping that it does not center on killing. I get that it changes people, but let's give Canary a brand new problem to worry about.
Recently, Caity Lotz posted on Instagram a picture of a news article announcing that there will be a brand new spin-off series with her, ATOM, Firestorm, Captain Cold, more unknown DC Characters as the main characters. So yeah, it does sound like it's going to be another version of the Justice League but not likely (my big guess is that they are going to be the Justice League of America but that wouldn't add up so well). Am I excited? Of course I am! Caity Lotz officially became one of my actresses mainly because she nailed the Canary role (sorry Laurel, but you'll get there) so well. Not only that, I love Captain Cold even if we still do not know what's his real deal is. Basically, I like the new DC characters of Arrow and The Flash, and I honestly want to see more of them. So personally, I think this whole thing is a really good idea, because this gives us a chance to get to know them more without them interfering with the main plots of the two main CW Series.
My only guess as to why they would do this is because of two words: fan service. It has to be because they intend to include Sara Lance in the series, even if she's *spoilers* dead. If you have seen Twitter or any article related to Sara's death in the first episode of Arrow Season 3, fans were devastated. So yes, I am convinced that Caity Lotz's character was just as loved as Emily Bett's (who plays Felicity Smoak). I'm not sure about ATOM or Firestorm but since they're played by very attractive and talented actors (let's be honest), I guess some fans would definitely want to see them do their own thing. If it's not because of the fan service then I don't know what. My main concern is that it might not end up as popular as they expected it to be. In other words, the characters they chose for this series should be at least--in my opinion--ultimately favored by the fans. Aside from writing a very twisted, good, and cohesive plot, the characters must be high in demand or popular.
It is mentioned in the news that there will be three additional DC characters who still remain a mystery and haven't been seen or mentioned in any DC show yet. Yes, you know what's coming next... who should be the three new DC characters for this series? Here are my picks
1.) Nightwing I think it's been something that I've been talking about since last year. Putting the bias attitude aside, I really think he should a part of this series and he does not have to be a regular. This can be the perfect opportunity to introduce the upcoming series (assuming the spinoff series comes first), "Titans" which is all about the Teen Titans themselves and Nightwing himself is the leader of this young group. Plus, there used to be rumors that there is the possibility of a crossover between Titans, Arrow, and The Flash. It would make sense for Nightwing to be in this series since he's also the hero of Bludhaven, and he can be the connecting bridge for the future series to come. Let's just hope that CW can still use Nightwing as a character.
2.) Cheshire or Tigress/Artemis Now this was certainly a hard deliberation for me, because they're both very interesting characters with so much potential. Basically, they were supposed to be one of the "forgotten" DC characters until Young Justice gave them more depth (mostly for Artemis, but you know what I mean). So if the writers based their characters on the Earth 2 or Young Justice Universe, then they could make great arc stories. Aside from the fact that they're supposed to or could be siblings, they are both very enigmatic characters and they both have scandalous family backgrounds. In Young Justice, they were the daughters of Sportsmaster and Huntress (Helena Bertinelli), who were wanted criminals. And it's all right if they don't focus on that, the back story of these characters are just pretty damn interesting. Artemis Crock is originally a villain, a minor member of the Injustice Society. In Young Justice, she suffers from some sort of identity crisis, unable to decide if she's a villain or a not. Cheshire, also known as Jade, she is originally the daughter of Lady Shiva (a villain of Batman...ehem Batman *points to Nightwing* Batman) and a member of the League of Shadows, or also known as League of Assassins...need I say more? These chicks can be potential anti-heroes of the series, and if we want feels... Cheshire became the wife of Roy Harper (but not exactly the Roy we know in Arrow), and Artemis was also the love interest of Wally West, who is the nephew of Iris West and is also known as Kid Flash, a member of Teen Titans and the protege of Barry Allen. Artemis was married to Icicle Jr. who was also a member of Injustice Society, but that's a different story altogether.
3.) The First Ravager, Son of Deathstroke Do I really have to explain why he should be included in the cast? He's the son of Slade Wilson! The offspring of the Deathstroke that we came to know. The son that he's been talking about since Lian Yu! And so far, we only heard of him so why not make him a character? Because believe it or not, he's just like his father. Why? Simple. Grant Wilson is the original Ravager until his sister took the mantle. Not only that, he's also a member of the Teen Titans. But just like Jason Todd, he didn't live long to tell his tale. Now I wonder why Deathstroke became the main villain of the Teen Titans in the first place....

2.) Nico Di Angelo (Heroes of Olympus/Percy Jackson & the Olympians) I did not notice him that much in the PJO series, simply because he was such a naive little boy. But he changed dramatically in Heroes of Olympus, and I could not help but feel very sorry for him. Then Blood of Olympus came and I began rooting for him. His development was very drastic compared to most of the characters in the series, in my opinion. It's probably the reason why I was so drawn to him. And he turned out pretty good. In the end, I became really proud of him. He deserves my greatest hugs.

3.) Cisco (The Flash) For some odd reason, he is my favorite character in the series. Don't get me wrong, Barry is great but Cisco is just so adorable! I've mentioned this before, but he is my spirit animal. His reaction to awesome stuff, is how I react to awesome stuff. Awesome.

4.) Piper Mclean (Heroes of Olympus) She may not have been the most impressive character in the series, but Riordan has managed to redeem her and it turned out pretty great. She taught me that it's not bad to use your heart in making decisions. Sometimes, logic does not work in certain situations and you just have to stick to your feelings or instincts. Use both your heart and brain, basically.
5.) Reyna (Heroes of Olympus) I am honestly glad that she had a POV in the last book. I loved her character since The Son of Neptune and I wanted to get to know her more ever since. And I am glad that she is not just a plain badass, she's also...a girl. I was honestly touched when she moved to Nico and gave him a hug. That was one of my favorite parts in the book.

6.) Clary Fray (The Mortal Instruments) Just like Piper, Clare managed to redeem her character. It actually happened since the City of Lost Souls. Right now, I do not find her too annoying. Not only can she fight, but she can be more diplomatic and she is slightly more stable...emotionally.

7.) Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill La Kill) I knew she was not a bad guy. I just knew it! I don't know if anti-hero is the right word to describe her, but let's just say she became a hero in her own way. She had an insane goal, but she managed to focus on that goal. No matter how risky all her moves were, she just did it. And she's also not afraid to play dirty when she has to.

8.) Naruto (Naruto) As you all know, Naruto ended last year. The only one who left a lasting impression to me was none other than, our beloved orange ninja. I'm just so proud of him, because he has managed to accomplish all of his dreams and goals in life. He managed to make peace with Sasuke, he became Hokage, and he married a beautiful girl with cups larger than an A. Plus, he matured. Good job, Naruto!

9.) Mikasa Ackerman (Shingeki No Kyojin) One of my amazing girl crushes. Not only is she just so loving and purely awesome...she has abs. Beautiful Ackerman abs.
10.) Armin Arlert (Shingeki No Kyojin) He's not one of those wimpy characters who stay wimpy till the end. He's realistic in a way, that he abruptly tries to change himself, but ends up failing miserably. All throughout the first season, I see how he eventually sees his friends as inspiration and attempts to become a stronger and better individual. It amazes me how he nearly failed to see his ultimate strength, which was his brilliant mind. Now that's a very realistic and human trait.

11.) Hiro (Big Hero 6) As much as Baymax, Gogo, and the other characters were awesome (trust me, all of the characters are cool), Hiro still left a lasting impression. Heck, he's my favorite character. He's an interesting balance of a pre-teen. On one hand, he's a very passionate and brilliant robotics nerd. On another, he's a sensitive little boy. Not only that, this kid gave me so much feels in less than three hours.

13.) Asami (Legend of Korra) Asami is what you would call...the ideal best friend (or girlfriend). I just love how mature she was in most situations. Even if she was on her breaking point, she knew how to fix things under pressure. Also, I love how she never saw Korra as a rival or anything. Also, she takes break-ups surprisingly well compared to most female characters I've seen. And she is actually a great independent character. She may not be a bender, but she knows how to take care of herself and the people she loves. She may have done a few minor mistakes in the show, but they didn't bother me at all. She's still a human, after all.

14.) Samantha Borgens (Stuck in Love: Writers) For the very first time, I've seen Lily Collins come to life. This was seriously the first time I saw her act. Her character was amazing. I don't know with you guys, but she is one of the greatest examples of a girl who received so much love and happiness, which ends up being trampled with divorce papers.
